Cardiac TechnicianReq #:0000177811 Category:Newly Created Position Status:Per Diem Shift:Day Facility:Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Department:Cardiac Cath Lab Location: Newark Beth Israel Medical Ctr, 201 LYONS AVENUE, NEWARK, NJ 07112-2027 Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech - Full Time Location:Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Req#:0000177811 Status:full time Shift:Day Department name: Cath Lab Job Overview: The Cardiovascular Tech will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac, neuro/neurovascular, vascular/endovascular, electrophysiology, structural heart procedures and circulatory support devices as indicated (i.e. IABP and Impella). In addition, the Cardiovascular Tech will assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, adherence to protocols for clinical research trials, and support quality based departmental initiatives. Qualifications: Required: + High School Diploma. + Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular or Radiology Technology program Preferred: + Associates or Bachelor s Degree in health science field. + Prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, invasive procedure area or special procedures radiology + Hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques. Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable): + Current RCIS certification or RAD license. + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. + Certified/Licensed CVT or RT in NJ Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions): + Per Diem + Evenings + Some weekend / holiday coverage may be required Essential Functions 1. Prepares and organizes specific equipment and sterile tray for each procedure. 2. Assists procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring. 3. Calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings. 4. Assists physicians throughout diagnostic, and/or all interventional procedures. 5. Loads and operates power injector and associated sterile support equipment. Maneuvers the table controls for physicians, as requested. Radiology Technologist (RT) only maneuvers fluoroscopy as requested. 6.Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipmentand obtains, calculates, andanalyzesall hemodynamic data assembled during the procedure, including computerized ventriculography data and valve area 7.Calculates and records cardiac output and oximetry readings 8. Utilizes and maintains the required standards for the operation ofdigital cine technologiesincluding protocols for storage and retrieval of patients images and hemodynamic records. 9. Assists with vascular access, sheath removal and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis at the access site. 10. Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS) 11. Assists in management of inventory control, maintenance of PAR levels and preparation of required equipment for each procedure. 12. Operates equipment safely: Prepares and cares for equipment, returns supplies as necessary. 13. Application of radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site. 14. Recognizes and interprets cardiac arrhythmias 15. Assists with maintenance, calibration and routine periodic evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment 16. Participates in the catheterizationlab on call responsibilitiesas per the organizational policy and procedure. 17. Active participant in quality and performance improvement initiatives 19. Adhere, monitor and support radiation safety standards per the organization's policy and procedure.
