Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager of Cardiology Ancillary Testing schedules cardiac testing appointments in Community Wide Scheduling as well as Ambulatory modules in Meditech. Maintains departmental ARM worklist for assigned locations. Answers and screens all telephone calls and responds to all messages with appropriate follow through. Works collaboratively with prior authorization team, ancillary specialty lead technicians, Cardiology department medical office coordinators and management.

Responsibilities:
Prioritizes assignments according to the needs of the patients and departments. Continually monitors ARM worklist for authorized testing prior to scheduling. Books appointments for all SMG patients ordered for cardiac testing including echocardiograms, cardiac monitors, stress testing, and pacemaker clinic. Calls patients to schedule appointments and notifies ordering provider office of appointment date and time. Advises patients of any special preparations prior to testing and mails instruction sheet to patients. Schedules appointments for both 110 Liberty St in the ambulatory scheduling module and the Brockton Hospital location in Community Wide scheduling module. Pre-registers patients scheduled at the Brockton Hospital location. Arranges interpreter services to be present for testing when needed. Maintains daily list of all patient arrivals and no shows. Monitors and reports no show rates to management. Notifies referring provider office of patient no shows through the messaging system in Meditech. Makes reminder calls for patients scheduled at the Brockton Hospital location. Obtains orders from outside providers and verifies prior authorizations are in place as necessary. Ensures outside orders are sent to scanning and scanned into medical record. Covers check in desk in Department of Medicine area as needed including registration. BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Secretarial program preferred. Computer literacy and typing skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology Customer service and telephone skills preferred. Insurance verification experience preferred.
