Cardiology Program - Structural Heart Program Coordinator Full Time Days

Full Time 40 weekly hours, day shift

Job Summary:

The Heart Valve Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of a comprehensive Cardiac Valve program that complies with national standards for the deliverance of excellent quality of care for valve patients as dictated by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), and governmental regulation for Medicare Compliance. The coordinator partners with the physician leaders of cardiology services and other related service line and clinical program leaders to ensure development of a comprehensive, market competitive, and leading-edge clinical program at Baptist Health Louisville and at any other affiliated sites across the region as deemed appropriate if/when applicable.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

1. Adheres to hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

2. Further develops, evaluates, and maintains Baptist Health Louisville’s Structural Heart program in a manner that meets and exceeds the recommendations of the ACC, and CMS.

3. Assumes responsibility for ongoing program management for valve conference and clinic across the continuum from physician office or hospital entry through discharge to include follow up care.

4 Serves as clinical expert and resource assisting patient care services personnel and

other health care professionals within the hospital, throughout the continuum and in the community.

5. Promotes and develops personal and professional growth through the education and development of self and patient care services staff.

6.. Participates in identifying needs, planning and implementing educational programs within specialty area for patients, families, community groups and other designated transfer health care facilities further promoting cardiac health initiatives and supporting the structural heart program.

7. Assumes a role in valve program hospital committee meetings.

8. Collaborates with Planning and Marketing Departments as indicated to strategize, accomplish goals and enhance visibility of Baptist Health Louisville’s structural heart program and Cardiovascular Service Line.

9. Works closely with the Cardiovascular Service Line Governance Committee, Surgery Department, Quality and Radiology as well as Home Health & other ancillary departments.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

A. Experience: 5-10 years in treatment of cardiac patients required.

B. Education: BSN required along with active RN license in Kentucky.

Certification in area of specialty is preferred but not required.

C. BLS/ACLS certified

D. Clinical attributes:

Skill in interpersonal and interdepartmental relations.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Skill in problem identification and resolution.

Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner.

Exceptional public relations skills.

Self -motivation in meeting education needs.
