Cardiopulmonary/Sleep Department Manager

Position Summary:

This leader is responsible for the oversight and direction of all aspects of the Cardiopulmonary/Sleep Department.  This includes staffing and scheduling, workforce development, safety and quality. This leader will work with the team and as a therapist in providing diagnostic and therapeutic patient care, will assist the staff in setting and achieving goals, and will delegate other responsibilities as necessary.

What you will need:

Education

Required: Associates in Respiratory Therapy

Preferred: Bachelors in Health/Respiratory Therapy

Credentials/Licensure

Required:  Registered Respiratory Therapist

Additional, Registered Sleep Technologist

Related Experience

Required: 5 years in Respiratory Therapy

Preferred: Management, Sleep Experience, Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required: Able to make accurate assessments of situations quickly and respond appropriately.

Preferred: Flexible in personal schedule when work issues arise.

Computer Competency

Familiarity with standard desktop and windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.  Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.

What you will do:

Overall management of the Cardio/Sleep Department including hiring, training, disciplinary actions to meet the business needs of the department and goals.Staff and schedule to ensure quality care is provided to patients in a timely and cost efficient manner.Work as a staff respiratory therapist providing all aspects of daily duties and care, (as qualified), provided by the department to out-patients, in-patients and patients seen in the emergency room.Work with the hospital and system management team, attending meetings and training opportunities.Work with other departments and physician offices to ensure successful patient outcomes and proper patient charges.Look for opportunities to improve services and encourage the staff to participate in change.Evaluate and oversee purchase of supply and equipment needs.Oversee sleep clinic and ensure successful accreditation with the ACHC, including survey preparation.Work with staff in setting and achieving quality and safety goals.Evaluate and provide feedback to staff on their work performance and areas of opportunity for improvement.Delegate work and reassign staff as needed.Listen to staff concerns and respond appropriately, being an advocate for positive outcomes and staff engagement.Be open to requests to serve on other committees.
