Reports to: Director, Cardiac Services

Position Summary  The Cardiovascular Data Registry Coordinator will be responsible for the accurate collection and submission of national and state data. Performs high quality data compilation, documentation and data entry of identified procedures performed at WPH into the associated registry/vendor tool platform.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:

Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Performs data collection & reporting.
Reviews 100% of patients for inclusion into National and/or State Registries. Collects preoperative, intraoperative, and 30-day postoperative follow-up data components for the program through the effective utilization of the hospital medical record systems. Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process. Responsible for the accurate, complete and timely entry of data into the program’s database. Responsible for performing departmental root cause analysis (RCA) in an effort to identifying the underlying causes of an incident. Serves as an educational resource on National and State Registries for internal and external audiences as needed. Communicate clearly any data documentation needs to support accurate and high reliable data collection and reporting. Assures the delivery of quality department /clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards. Responsible for participation in committees, task forces and projects as appropriate. Assures the provision of a safe employee/patient environment. Performs all other related duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements 

Clinical background required as RN, NP, PA, RT, RVT, or RCIS credentials or substantial clinical experience.

Minimum of 3-5 years data abstraction experience in one or more of the following registries: CathPCI, ACTION, Chest Pain MI, ICD, TVT, LAAO, PVI, SCPC-CP, Afib Ablation, STEMI, NYS (DOH)

College degree required

Experience submitting directly into National or State Registries Problem solving skills and attention to details are required Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Extensive Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment

May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. Must be able to communicate with staff, patients, and visitors 100% of the time. Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds, push, and pull bend, stoop, walk, etc. for 50% of the time. Must be able to perform difficult manipulative, arm-hand steadiness and hand eye coordination skills. Must be able to meet all regulatory requirements Demonstrates ability to follow written and oral instructions required for the position. Demonstrates ability to analyze multidimensional problems into component parts and sort out tasks in priority order to solve the problem. Primary Population Served

Salary Range: $105,216- $145,113
