Proficient at all functions required to schedule, perform and process echo and/or vascular ultrasound examinations.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: None.
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Certified in CPR or certified within 3 months of employment;
Registry eligible (ARDMS or CCI) in Echocardiography and/or Vascular Technology. Must obtain registry in either Echocardiography or Vascular Technology within 90 days of hire date.
Required Training: Successful completion of formal or occupational training specific to either echocardiography and/or vascular sonography;
Possesses excellent understanding of medical terminology
Essential Functions Performs invasive and non-invasive echo and/or vascular procedures. Possesses excellent understanding of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy in relation to the cardiovascular disease process and/or arterial and venous system (pathology, morphology). Obtains a brief history that applies to cardiac disease states and/or arterial/venous diseases states. Performs a brief physical exam that applies to cardiac disease states and arterial/venous disease states. Clinically evaluates patients and determines the level of appropriate testing. Administers echocardiogram image enhancement agent as indicated. Recognizes symptoms of cardiovascular distress. Uses all current equipment that requires considerable experience, judgement and concentration. Available for on-call duty in order to maintain after hours service. Duties & Responsibilities Participates in a continuous quality improvement program. Participates in education programs and in-services for departmental personnel. Participates in continuing education by reading journals, attending workshops and seminars. Performs routine preventive maintenance and calibration procedures on all pertinent equipment. Reports equipment malfunctions and maintains a record of these events. Maintains professional rapport with the Medical Director, Medical Staff and Cardiovascular Staff. Works independently with little or no direct supervision.
