Job Summary:
Performs electrocardiograms, applies Holter monitors. Must maintain competency in cardiac rhythms and associated life threatening arrhythmias. Must maintain current Basic Life Support/CPR certification. Patient population served includes any patient admitted from newborn to geriatrics.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time
1. Performs electrocardiograms with technical accuracy and demonstrates a thorough understanding of the equipment.
2. Recognizes life-threatening arrhythmia’s and reports them to the attending nurse.
3. Performs Holter monitor application with technical accuracy and demonstrates an understanding of the equipment and process.
4. Faxes reports as needed.
5. Responds to Code Blue and rapid response.
6. Maintains equipment in the proper working order by routine, cleaning and stocking of machines.
7. Active participant in QA activities.
8. Annual completion of Competency Validation Program
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Experience in all cardiology procedures preferred.
3. Must attend and pass cardiac arrhythmia class offered.
4. BCLS certification required within 90 days.
