Cardiovascular Technologist (Cath Lab) Lead

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the Lead CV Tech you will assist in development of unit goals, objectives, budget and standards while determining unit assignments, team scheduling for shifts and call, as well as identifying and supporting specific individual/professional needs of staff.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Science.

EXPERIENCE: 

At least three years’ experience as a Cath Lab Tech. Minimum of two years in a leadership role preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS).

 BCLS/ACLS required

JOB SUMMARY/QUALIFICATIONS:

Supply Management: assist with maintaining unit PAR levels, as well as, plan for adequate resources based on future growth. Assist with coordination of orientation for new employees and students. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks while providing leadership to team members on effective and efficient utilization of time. Accurately reviews and edits team member's time cards for management approval. Assist in performance evaluations on team members. Performs counseling activities as necessary and intervening to resolve conflict or potential conflict on the unit. Serves as liaison between team members, management and physicians, resolving routine matters for the shift/modality. Monitors and adjusts activities to ensure optimum patient throughput and patient experience. Assists physicians during procedures. Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Follows radiation safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job, departmental and hospital safety standards, practices and policies. Assist in the development/review/revision and monitoring of unit quality assurance plan. Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting departmental and hospital targets for quality and safety. Identifies potential patient/staff safety opportunities, promptly reporting to Director to improve processes and identify trends. Conducts quality audits on equipment, processes, outcomes and team member performance. Documents, develops and evaluates processes and procedures. Assists with implementation and education of departmental based safety initiatives, standards of practice and protocols. Develops skills of team members and continually assists with improving skills, performance and outcomes.
