Summary:

The Care Associate provides non-clinical medical practice management support to the outpatient medical offices. Responsibilities include phone management, appointment scheduling, and computer data entry. Greets customers and delivers a positive patient experience through efficient patient registration, creating a friendly atmosphere, and promoting teamwork throughout the medical practice.

Experience/Education Requirements:

High school diploma or its equivalent requiredExperience in a physician office or other healthcare setting preferredAbility to spell, alphabetize and count accuratelyAbility to work in an automated environment requiredMedical terminology required.Insurance and authorization process knowledge helpful.2-3 years experience in customer service/receptionist.Must be able to type 35WPM

Responsibilities:

Answers telephone and takes accurate messages.Documents missed appointments in patient record.Listens and communicates effectively and compassionately with customers and ensures understanding.Maintains current knowledge of insurance programs.Schedules patient clinical and diagnostic appointments.Maintains and organizes personal reference materials and training manual.Receives and properly responds to, or redirects calls to appropriate department.Confirms or cancels appointments thru call back software.Schedule appointments accurately based on provider preferences.Communicates with peers, providers, clinical staff and other team members professionally.Reviews call software consistently and makes necessary staffing adjustments to meet volumes.Uses Screening software to determine whether services being provided meet third party requirements for payment.Follows HIPAA payer and other and other applicable regulations and standards for registration.Add Keeps in compliance with department specific abandoned call rate goals and expectations.Achieves or excels productivity goals.Achieves or excels registration quality expectations measured by personal registration dashboards.Reviews and maintains assigned work queues according to department specific goals.
