Care Management Support Assistant

 Humana is seeking a Care Management Support Assistant (CMSA) who will contribute to the administration of the care management and utilization management teams. The CMSA provides non-clinical support for the assessment and evaluation of members' needs and requirements to achieve and/or maintain an optimal wellness state by guiding members/families toward and facilitate interaction with resources appropriate for the care and wellbeing of members.

The Care Management Support Assistant decisions are typically focused on the interpretation of area/departmental policy and methods for completing assignments.

Conducts initial outreach to members to complete Health Risk Assessments.

Identifies members’ needs and determines level of intervention necessary to meet needs.

Assists members with resources to address immediate needs and refers to care management team for ongoing support.

Monitors Care Management email box and voicemails.

Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction.

Follows standard policies/practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion.

Required Qualifications

One (1) years of administrative support experience working in the clinical/healthcare industry.

Two (2) years of data entry experience.

Proficient with MS Office, utilizing multiple shared systems, platforms, and being able to troubleshoot and resolve general technical issues.

Proven verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree.

Certified Medical Assistant.

Behavioral Health experience.

Additional Information

Workstyle: Home. Home workstyle is defined as remote but will use Humana office space on an as needed basis for collaboration and other face-to-face needs.  

Work Location: Preferred South Carolina residency.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Work-At-Home Internet Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
