Career Advancement and Alumni Engagement Coordinator, Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy

The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy Career Advancement and Alumni Engagement Coordinator will play an integral role in supporting the collective goals of the team members in developing undergraduate and graduate student leaders, from matriculation to graduation. The coordinator will engage daily with undergraduate and graduate policy students who are distinguished by their high level of engagement and ambitious career goals. Through frontline interfacing and helpful practical support, the ideal candidate for the coordinator position will bring to the position a personal record of student/alumni engagement and/or public service, an enthusiastic and positive personality, and outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills. 

Responsibilities:   

Serve as frontline employee for the Career Advancement and Alumni Engagement Office, greeting students, employers, alumni, and other guests in a professional and engaging manner. Partner with Director of Career Advancement and Alumni Engagement to implement programming and all aspects of event logistics. Provide timely and efficient business support to Career Advancement and Alumni Engagement team, processing reimbursements and receipts, making room reservations, and serving as a liaison between the Office and Events team members. Create and deploy regular student and alumni communications, as directed, to promote career success, alumni engagement, and connection between the Batten School and strategic partners. Prepare budget reports related to ongoing initiatives as needed. Collaborate with Batten’s Marketing and Communications and IT teams to maintain timely information on relevant information on Batten’s website and social channels. Maintain public-facing career-focused bulletin boards and informational kiosks. Work with school colleagues to identify students and alumni for school publications and profiles. Provide practical support for all large-scale schoolwide events, including orientation, Batten Builds, CIBO, alumni events, and graduation. Participate in weekly team meetings. Coordinate special projects as assigned or needed. 

Minimum Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an education, policy, or related field.  Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.At least two years of higher education experience, preferably in student, career, or alumni relations Knowledge of and ability to follow Batten School policies and procedures  Knowledge of current Microsoft suite technologies, as well as Canva and other management software Commitment to a healthy, supportive workplace and school culture Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, with outstanding writing skills Ability to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner  Knowledge of and demonstrated success using social media platforms for student communication Ability to set and maintain a budget Knowledge of recruiting, job placement and/or career advising platforms  Ability and demonstrated experience relating to a diverse population and promoting a community that values equity and inclusion Ability to use sound judgment when faced with difficult situations  Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail  Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment  Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and take appropriate action, resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students, faculty, alumni, community partners, and employers

The anticipated hiring range for this role is $45,000-$55,000, commensurate with qualifications.

The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
