Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $34,000 - $36,000 (60%, 10-month appointment)
The School of Management (SOM) at Binghamton University, State University of New York seeks a Career Advisor who will provide individual and group career counseling/job search coaching to students. The goal of the position is to help students make informed career decision; explore occupational choices suited to their needs and skill set; prepare for an effective job search and connect with internship and fulltime employment opportunities.
In addition to meeting with students, the career advisor may also be involved with the planning and execution of career education programming (e.g., career networking events and class presentations).
Salary and benefits are aligned with SUNY UUP member negotiated benefits. The position reports to the Director of SOM Career Services.
Major Responsibilities:
+ Assist and guide students through the occupational exploration and career decision-making process.
+ Teach and coach students in self-directed job search strategies. Provide resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn critiques, and interview skills training. Instruct students on how best to use on-line resources for researching employers and current employment opportunities.
+ Determine appropriate assessment instruments and interventions required to assist students with skill development as part of the job-search process. Analyze and interpret career assessment results to inform career counseling/job search coaching sessions.
+ Assist with and/or coordinate logistical details for career and job search workshops, class presentations, career networking events, and other special career events.
+ Develop strategic alliances with the academic and employment community. Identify employment opportunities and market recruitment services to existing and new employers.
+ Promote employer recruitment services to students (e.g., on-campus interviews, career networking events, coffee chats, etc.).

Job Requirements:
This is an in-person position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
+ Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, human resources, business or other related field
+ At least 2 years of experience in career services, higher education, human resources or recruiting
Preferred:
+ Master's Degree
+ Prior experience working for corporations
