Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Career Counselor - College of Business - Boca Raton, FL. The FAU College of Business is one of the largest AACSB-accredited business schools in the United States, with more than 8,000 students. The Career Counselor will be an integral member of the College of Business Career Development team, dedicated to supporting the professional growth of our diverse business student population. In this role, you will provide personalized career advisement, develop and deliver career-related programming, cultivate employer relationships, and coordinate the FAU Business Mentoring Program to connect students with seasoned professionals. By helping students leverage their education and experiences, you will play a crucial role in guiding them toward fulfilling internships, career paths, and long-term success in the business world. Key Responsibilities: + Individual Career Advising:Provide one-on-one guidance to undergraduate and graduate business students on career exploration, résumé and cover letter refinement, LinkedIn profile optimization, networking, interviewing techniques, job and internship search strategies, and salary negotiations. + Career Programming & Workshops:Develop and deliver interactive workshops, professional development seminars, classroom presentations, and career-related events focused on emerging business trends, skill-building, and industry insights. + FAU Business Mentoring Program Management:Support the administration of the mentoring program in recruiting and training mentors, matching them with student mentees, preparing participants for successful mentoring engagements, and organizing related networking events and activities. + Employer Engagement:Collaborate with recruiters, alumni, and corporate partners to foster internship and full-time placement opportunities, maintain robust employer relationships, and serve as a liaison to ensure employers connect with qualified candidates from the College of Business. + Resource Development:Curate and create career-related resources, tools, and digital content that reflect emerging industry trends, the needs of a global economy, and the value of the AACSB-accredited business curriculum. + Data Tracking & Assessment:Collect and analyze outcome metrics related to student engagement, placement rates, and satisfaction. Use data-driven insights to improve program offerings and continuously inform strategic planning. + Collaborative Initiatives:Partner with faculty, academic advisors, and other campus units to integrate career readiness and mentoring into academic offerings, promoting a college-wide culture of professional growth, practical learning, and post-graduate success. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with business industries, professional standards, and the current employment landscape. Experience working with mentoring programs and career management platforms (e.g., Handshake) and delivering in-person and virtual career programming. Desired Skills and Attributes: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, employers, mentors, and campus partners. Proven ability to demonstrate empathy, active listening, and cultural competence in a diverse academic environment. Excellent organizational and project management skills, comfortable working both independently and as part of a dynamic team. Analytical mindset for using data and assessment tools to guide program enhancement and measure outcomes. Commitment to professional development and staying current with best practices in career services, mentoring, and business industry trends. Salary: $50,000 per year.
