Job Title: Career Mentor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Career Mentor to join our Education, Career and Enrichment department. The Career Mentor will play a crucial role in providing individualized career guidance, support, and resources to participants. This position requires strong communication skills, a passion for career development, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with participants and employers.
Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Location Address: 151 Lawrence Street Brooklyn, NY 11201.
Salary: The salary for the Career Mentor is $56,238 per year.
Workplace Flexibility: In Person - (staff roles designated as fully in person are eligible for in- person workplace differential pay).
What you will be doing:
Follow up on participant referrals made by the Department of Probation to engage youth in programming.Maintain partnership with probation officers and provide updates regarding their youth.Facilitate job readiness and life skills groups and/or individual sessions.Maintain documentation and process participant stipend payments.Plan and execute service-learning projects with program participants.Refer participants to support services when needed.Maintain up-to-date documentation in databases.Attend trainings and team meetings.Other duties as assigned by Team Leader or Director of Education & Career Services.
What we are looking for:
Minimum of a high school diploma.Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Experience in customer service. Proficient Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel; and proficient in use of Google Docs. Experience working with youth and families. Comfort with traveling throughout the city in the summer. Ability to apply youth development principles and commitment to work from a strengths-based perspective.Employee Benefits:
