This role ensures that career exploration programming, Guided Learning Pathways (GLP) initiatives and Employment Resources align with college mission and work plan. Key responsibilities include coordinating GLP programming which supports students during their first year at Saint Paul College to discover a major related to their career field of interest using “Light the Fire” courses, appreciative advising and relevant career exploration activities. These efforts aim to decrease equity gaps and enhance key performance metrics including increased first-year persistence, retention and related employment or continuing education upon program completion. This position also co-coordinates CAP-SH (Career and Academic Planning for Science and Health Science majors). This involves managing career exploration programming, faculty mentorship, recruitment, enrollment, programming, student engagement and budgeting for this grant-funded program. Additionally, the Career Navigator works directly with students to ensure career readiness as it relates to choice of major, job application materials, job/internship search and interview preparation. The Navigator plays a key role in connecting students with jobs and internship opportunities. **Job Duties:** + Career Exploration Programming + Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, community organizations, and work-force agency personnel that will connect students with jobs and internship experiences that align with curriculum and meet industry and employer needs. + Collaborate with Career Services Director to support day to day functions of the Career Center. + Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Three years of experience in education or in a related field, or an Associate Degree in a related field can substitute for one year of experience. + Experience working with job seekers in navigating the job search process, or advising in a higher education setting. + Experience working cross-departmentally for program development, implementation and evaluation. + Experience working with diverse populations. + Knowledge and experience using career, occupation, and labor market information. + Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, analyze data and situations, integrating results into strategic plans, policies, processes and procedures. + Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products, navigation of customer relations management, database and scheduling software. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in a related field and knowledge of student development, career development and assessment. + Experience working in a higher education institution. + Experience working with career assessments such as Focus 2 Career, Strong Interest Inventory, CliftonStrengths. + Experience working with industry partners. + Effective with prioritizing and organization of tasks and follow through. + Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations to groups. **Other Requirements** All resumes must clearly address the Required Qualifications as stated above.
