JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies is seeking a Career Services Specialist to develop, implement, and manage services, programs, and resources for Great Valley graduate students and alumni in reaching professional career goals. The Career Services Specialist provides career coaching and counseling to graduate students and forms relationships with employers to match students with career opportunities. This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Management and Student Services. + Provide individual career coaching and counseling appointments + Host workshops to assist students in resume preparation, interview techniques, and job search strategies + Engage Great Valley Advisory Board members in providing networking opportunities for students and expertise via mock interviews and panel discussions + Proactively seek opportunities and act as a campus liaison with local employers. Foster relationships with companies, alumni, and industry partners to secure new internship or job opportunities + Provide CPT and OPT guidance for international students. Host workshops in collaboration with Penn State Global advisor on work requirements in the US for student visa holders + Maintain on-line career resources available through the University for students and employers + Organize bus trips and accompany students to career fairs held at University Park each year. Connect with employers at career fairs to explore opportunities for our students. Organize virtual career fair each fall at Great Valley Requirements: + Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and three years’ relevant experience within higher education or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + A master’s degree and six years’ relevant experience at the graduate student level is preferred. + The successful candidate will be goal-oriented and will possess the ability to plan, organize, efficiently manage time, balance multiple responsibilities, adapt to change, and work independently and collaboratively within a team. Key competencies for success include excellent communication and writing skills, the ability to engage effectively with a diverse student population, and demonstrated success in fostering relationships with companies, alumni, and industry partners. + Candidates should possess a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to learn new software applications. A valid driver's license and access to an automobile for off-campus meetings and events is required. This position will report to Penn State Great Valley’s Director of Enrollment Management and Student Services and will be filled at the Advanced or Senior level depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience.
