CARES Housing Coordinator
CARES Housing Coordinator **POSITION DETAILS** Reporting to the Access Resource Manager in the Counseling and Resources for Emergency Support (CARES) Unit, the Housing Coordinator for the CARES Access Resource Center (ARC) will develop and lead housing support services for CUNY students at Bronx Community College. The Housing Coordinator will have primary responsibility of supporting and linking students to housing support services and navigate the vast network of housing resources in New York City. S/he will also provide day-to-day case management supports to students who seek support from BCC CARES ARC. The Housing Coordinator for CARES ARC is responsible for overseeing the outreach to city and nonprofit housing groups to find potential housing resources for BCC students to utilize and address housing insecurities amongst the student body. The Housing Coordinator is expected to: • Manage the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of housing resources for a diverse student population. • Evaluate student needs and trends to develop a range of student services that address housing insecurities. • Create an inventory of all housing support services and assess the strengths and weaknesses of each to create the best referral resources for students. • Create partnerships with DYCD and DHS to facilitate smooth transitions for students who need to enter the shelter system. • Create partnerships with HRA to obtain information on the status of One-Shot Deals and assist students with cash assistance, SNAP and appeals. • Train, supervise and evaluate CARES ARC full-time and part-time staff on housing supports for students. • Collaborate with CUNY CARES Housing Coordinator on housing services offered to students. • Ensure that follow-up with both clients and partnering agencies occurs regarding referrals and outcomes and ensure appropriate documentation of all program data and services. • Organize workshops, educational sessions, and develop educational materials aimed at aiding students experiencing housing instability to access appropriate assistance. • Assist with preparing funding requests for additional support for housing assistance. • Develops relationships with college departments and outside community organizations to understand student housing needs and available development opportunities. • Provide case management services for students seeking services from CARES ARC. • Contribute to development and implementation of programs and services for increased student success. • Prepare reports and assume other related duties as assigned by the CARES ARC Manager and/or Director. **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** • Master’s degree in student services, social work, or a related discipline. • At least three years’ experience providing housing and other support to low-income young adults. • Strong interpersonal, communications, and problem-solving skills. • Knowledge of the CUNY system and experience working in low income, immigrant, Black or Latinx communities, especially in the Bronx, is highly desirable.
