Job Overview The Carpenter Maintenance Roofing performs general roofing maintenance including minor repairs. This role is inclusive of lightning protection inspections and associated minor repairs. Work involves: planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, and making standard computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. The work requires rounded training and experience from an apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience. This is a union position. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Repairs roofing distresses, waterproof membranes, insulation, caulking, flashing, decking, gutters, rooftop associated equipment, coping, debris removal from roof/gutters, and other structural roof elements in accordance with AFI 32-1001, Civil Engineer Operations and UFC 3-110-03, Roofing. Perform maintenance and repair work on various types of roofing systems, i.e. metal, pitched and tar material. Conducts periodic inspections, annotates existing conditions, conducts investigation into failures, inputs data into BUILDER, and maintains the accuracy of roofing data. Each facility shall have their roof and gutters cleaned at least every 6 months. Conducts periodic inspections and maintains temporary roofs (tarps/plastic/other). Refurbishes roofs to serviceable condition by replacing waterproof membranes, insulation, caulking, flashing, decking, gutters, rooftop associated equipment, and coping. Plan, organize work and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day. Respond to emergency site maintenance as required. Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary. Required to safely operate customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment. Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures. Ability to work overtime as needed. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High school diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of commercial roofing experience completing similar work. Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required. Knowledge of required hand and power tools. Familiarity with applicable codes and standards. Ability to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card. Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position. Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS). Ability to obtain Government credentials that may be required.
