Carpenter
Curtiss-Wright is looking for a Carpenter (2nd Shift) 3pm to 1:30 am to join our Indal team. Initially this position will start on day shift (7:30am to 4pm) for training. As a Carpenter you will prepare various sized parts and equipment for shipments that may require packaging in cardboard or wooden crates and ensures all labels are placed correctly on packages.

Your Challenge:
Build crates in relation to hardware dunnage, knowing how to properly brace material and maintain weights and dimensions to safely and securely ship our parts and equipment. No drawings or work instruction are provided, must rely on skills and experience.
Prepare and package various sized parts and equipment for shipping whether in cardboard boxes or wooden crates. Packaging may be to Military Specifications (2073).
Ensure all products being shipped are correctly labeled.
Accurately measure parts and equipment outside dimensions to determine inside dimensions of the crate required. Accurate measurements are critical as parts or equipment transport via air, truck or sea containers, is dependent on this information for their calculation and cost.
For parts or equipment requiring waterproof envelopes in various sizes, must be able to lay out rolls of wrapping material, cutting appropriately and accurately, to allow proper room and ensuring minimal waste. Must rely on personal skills and experience as no drawing or work instructions are provided.
What You Bring:
Forklift and crane operator experience required.
Carpentry skills and experience required for building wooden crates.
Previous experience using an industrial 600-volt table saw industrial 3" nail guns and industrial miter saw with 12" blade.
Previous shipping experience would be considered an asset.
Previous exposure to working in a LEAN environment would be considered an asset.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CPG) and a Canadian government security clearance
