**Job Title: Concrete Journeyman** **Summary:** A concrete journeyman smooths and finishes surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, sidewalks, roads, or curbs, using a variety of hand and power tools. They align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters, patch voids, and use saws to cut expansion joints. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities:** + **Surface Finishing** : Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete using hand and power tools. + **Form Alignment** : Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters. + **Cutting and Patching** : Cut concrete using motorized saws and patch voids. + **Blueprint Reading** : Understand and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications. + **Safety Compliance** : Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment. + **Team Coordination** : May lead and coordinate activities of co-workers on small projects. + **Material Handling** : Measure and mark lines on materials, shape or cut material to specific measurements, and erect scaffolding as needed. + **Concrete Repair** : Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete. + **Surface Treatment** : Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete and waterproof or restore surfaces. **Skills and Qualifications:** + **Experience** : Typically requires four or more years of experience in a related area. + **Technical Skills** : Proficiency in using hand and power tools, reading blueprints, and understanding construction practices. + **Physical Fitness** : Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions. + **Problem-Solving** : Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. + **Communication** : Good verbal and written communication skills. + **Education** : High school diploma or equivalent required.
