**Role Responsibilities**
+ Collaborate with line management to implement Carrier Corporate and Regional EHS programs, ensuring compliance with Japanese EHS regulations and Carrier standards.
+ Develop and support programs to enhance workplace safety, health, and environmental protection, fostering a culture that prioritizes safety, minimizes hazards, and promotes environmental sustainability.
**Role Purpose**
+ Foster a culture of safety and continually enhance EHS awareness and commitment across all Carrier Japan offices and field operations.
+ Encourage proactive employee engagement in EHS initiatives aligned with the Carrier values for achieving zero accidents.
+ Drive effective EHS management systems compliant with Carrier corporate procedures and Japanese national EHS legislation, including the Industrial Safety and Health Act and related standards.
+ Ensure continuous improvement measures are effectively incorporated into the EHS Management System to enhance safety and compliance.
+ Regularly review and update the EHS Management System Policy, Program, and Procedures to reflect changes in regulations, technologies, and best practices.
+ Lead and manage internal inspection and audit programs, including training for auditors, monitoring results, and ensuring timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
+ Support external audits and compliance inspections by Japanese regulatory bodies and third-party auditors.
+ Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training and communication programs tailored to the needs of office and field employees.
+ Provide leadership with detailed monthly reports and performance analyses, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
+ Maintain accurate records as required under Japanese regulatory frameworks.
+ Assist, support, and guide line management in investigating workplace incidents, including near misses, dangerous occurrences, occupational illnesses, environmental releases, and pollution impacts.
+ Oversee the implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
+ Offer technical advice and on-the-ground support to field operations on EHS-related matters, ensuring alignment with Carrier's global standards and Japanese-specific requirements.
+ Develop and implement EHS Training Modules, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) as applicable to Carrier Japan Service and Construction business.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support broader improvement programs and ensure EHS alignment with corporate and local business goals.
+ Influence, Lead and mentor leaders and teams to drive a strong EHS culture and excellence in safety practices, ensuring all employees are equipped to work safely and effectively.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ An engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Safety Engineering, or an equivalent qualification recognized under Japanese engineering standards.
+ A Japanese Safety Officer Certification or an internationally accredited certification in EH&S, such as NEBOSH, Certificate IV in WHS, or equivalent.
+ Over 8–10 years of relevant EHS work experience, with proven expertise in Japanese EHS legislative requirements and workplace safety management. Experience with Japanese labor laws and the Industrial Safety and Health Act is essential.
+ Knowledge of service, HVAC, construction, and mechanical project processes. Familiarity with Japanese Industrial Standards is preferred.
+ Experience in communicating with local government agencies, including the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
+ Fluency in Japanese (mandatory) and proficiency in English (preferred).
+ Strong interpersonal, presentation, communication, and training skills.
+ Ability to work independently and interact with employees at all levels, including senior management.
