JOB SPECIFICS
The Case Management Specialist manages lower risk clients ordered conditions, monitors lower risk clients' compliance with conditions set by court, provides required case reporting and performs other duties as assigned. Because this position requires direct observation of male defendants submitting urinalysis, being male has been determined to be a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ), therefore this position must be filled by a male applicant.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
+ Paid experience working in Corrections.
+ Knowledge of and experience utilizing criminal justice database programs.
+ Paid work experience submitting written information to criminal court or criminal justice decision making authority.
+ Skilled in culturally sensitive communication with identified minority populations.
SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
Offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a drug screen and fingerprint criminal history investigation at County expense prior to beginning employment with Washington County.
ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $27.72 - $32.75 per hour
HOURS / DAYS: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Community Corrections Supervisor, the Community Corrections Case Management Specialist position manages, monitors, and reports on court orders, to ensure compliance with conditions set by the court for lower risk offenders and less serious offenses.
EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires an Associate degree in criminal justice, social work, behavioral science, or a related field. Bureau of Criminal Apprehension certification required during first six months of employment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Please note that Community Corrections Case Management Specialists may perform some or all of the following tasks depending on their areas of expertise.
Manage lower risk offenders' ordered conditions:
• Ensure that lower risk offenders complete the intake process;
• Explain sentencing orders to offenders;
• Serve as a liaison between lower risk offenders, community agencies, and the public;
• Connect lower risk offenders with programs and services as ordered by the Court;
• Communicate with criminal justice stakeholders and community resources to verify or improve condition compliance;
• Investigate and coordinate restitution plans.
Monitor lower risk offenders' compliance with conditions set by court:
• Review assigned cases each month;
• Facilitate lower risk offenders compliance with court orders and program participation;
• Schedule and conduct random urine testing for offenders as required by the court;
• Participate in court hearings when lower risk offenders are not in compliance with court orders and engage stakeholders in disposition of cases;
• Recommend cases be transferred to a higher level of supervision based on new information or changing circumstances.
Provide required case reporting:
• Enter case documentation into appropriate electronic databases (i.e. ICOTS, CSTS, MNCIS);
• Prepare complete, accurate and timely progress, discharge or violation reports for PO III or supervisor review;
• Conduct criminal history record checks for the department through the secure CJDN;
• Make reports to child protection as required by law.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work performed is sedentary in nature and typically within the Government Center, satellite offices or program sites. Lifting requirement of up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, digital scanner, telephone, copier, scanner and fax machine. Exposures may include, but are not limited to, bodily fluids and odors.
