Job Duties:

 

Case Management - Ensures prompt access to quality medical care for employees on medical leave, monitor appropriate medical treatment and evaluate timely recovery from occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses.  Assists employees access through the medical system.  Communicates with employees, providers, and the Company about return-to-work status.  Provides information to providers for placement consideration.  Maintains contact with employees on medical leave to evaluate their progress.

                Telephonic case management responsibilities for all employees include:

Contacting all employees on medical leave to determine medical status. Fielding medical questions from individual employees or from Branch personnel and Branch management. Using early intervention to discourage prolonged medical leaves. Exploring temporary transitional work positions with the employee's respective facility. Coordinating the return-to-work process Reviewing the company policy on narcotic medications before returning to work. Informing Personnel as soon as possible when time off work may extend for over one year. Assisting with setting up Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) as necessary Participating in discussions about an Independent Medical Exam (IME) Working with TPA on WC cases to encourage more interaction and progress with each case.

Report Preparation and Record Keeping - Prepares detailed reports for supervisors, leave administrators and the Medical Director.  Troubleshoots problems in the reports. Keep highly accurate records for management of lost time and a productive workforce.

Transitional Work Placement - Locates transitional work positions to accommodate job restrictions.  Follows up with employee after any return to work with restrictions to ensure successful job placement and compliance with restrictions.

Miscellaneous - Completes communications and statistics as necessary.  Participates in meetings to determine employee medical progress or job placement.  Performs other tasks as assigned, especially nursing ones.  Works cooperatively among a number of sister departments.  Fosters cooperation and problem solving.   Works to understand the position of others.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Registered nursing degree and a State of Ohio nursing license as well as RN licenses for other states as indicated.  National certification as an Occupational Health Nurse (COHN/COHN-S) is a plus.  Certification as a Case Manager (CM/CCM) is favorably considered.  Must have experience and competence with both Microsoft Excel and Word.  Must be able to learn Origami computer program. At least four years of nursing practice, preferably in occupational health, is desirable for this position.
