The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Cash Application Specialist. This role will be an integral part of the Valvoline Retail Services cash operations, with duties including daily cash application, posting a high volume of lockbox payments (ACH and check) using various financial institution portals, and researching customer remittance information. The role will involve posting related accounting entries and following up on unresolved outstanding open items. Additionally, the specialist will assist and communicate discrepancies with various departments to resolve posted items timely to customer accounts.

How You'll Make a Difference

Daily Cash Application – Support North America's cash application process. This includes monitoring customer payments ensuring that cash is adequately posted to customer accounts and applied in a timely manner. This includes a high-volume of lockbox payments (ACH and check) using various financial institution portals and SAP S4 remittance information research. Process SAP document reset requests received from various groups Understand SAP scanning/linking process for cash receipts and SAP workflow for cash processing. Monitor unapplied accounts and ensure appropriate follow-up work is being completed. Follow up on business inquiries on vendor payments and customer receipts.

Cash Management Accounting - Process journal entries related to bank activity in support of the North American Cash Management work. Review open item listing daily and research items for resolution and clearing. Process and reconcile account receivables and remittances.

Perform periodic audits of the general ledger and company financial documents.

Ad Hoc – Provide a supplemental resource for other Treasury activities.

Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Bachelor's degree: major in accounting, finance, or economics preferred

Minimum of two years of relevant job-related experience in corporate finance, banking, and treasury operations experience preferred

Intermediate PC skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel

Organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks

Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly

Prior experience in accounts receivable and cash applications

Ability to work independently and contribute to broader team objectives

Ability to multitask and manage time amid multiple deadlines

Superb written and verbal communication skills

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
