SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Greet customers, accept payment, stock and maintain self-serve areas, and assist in other areas as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.    Greets employees/customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
2.    Enters purchases into the cash register to calculate the total purchase price.
3.    Accepts payment and completes transactions according to established procedure.
4.    Keep the register area neat and stocked with necessary supplies.
5.    Keeps retail area clean, orderly, and presentable.
6.    Performs other tasks, as required.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

•    Lifting -- Not to exceed 50 lbs. – local practice may apply.
•    Writing
•    Sitting

•    Visual acuity

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•    Ability to operate the cash register and credit card equipment.
•    Ability to read, write, and do simple math.
•    Ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate well with others.
•    Ability to be self-motivated and do what needs to be done.
•    Ability to work as a member of a team.

PREFERENCES

•    Experience as a cashier
•    Education equivalent to a High School diploma.

COMPETENCIES

•    Ability to communicate and interact positively with the public
•    Reading, writing, and communication skills 
•    Operation of credit card equipment and cash register

COMMENTS

Infectious Control Risk Category II:

The risk category explains whether or not employees are likely to come into contact with blood or body fluids while performing their jobs.  Risk category II states employment and procedures that may require exposure.
