Casting Quality Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field, from an accredited institution. Minimum of 1-3 years aluminum molten metal processing experience. Working knowledge and experience in the casting manufacturing process. Possess a working knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001 and/or ISO/IATF16949 and the ability to work to continuously improve quality systems resulting in improved product/service quality and reduced cost. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in metallurgy or engineering is preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt Certification, Certified Quality Engineer or Auditor (preferred but not required). IATF 16949 Internal Auditor certification.

Position Summary:  Provide daily technical and quality leadership at the cast house, to develop technical, quality, and operating processes and procedures, which will be utilized to assure quality product, processes and support the operations team. 

Essential Duties:

Provides support of the Quality Management System per ISO 9001 requirements including but not limited to internal audits, gauge calibration, document control, CAPA, PFMEA & Control Plans, etc.   Support daily management meetings and report progress on quality metrics (scrap, FTC, etc.) and projects. Driving process improvement activities. Develop technical, quality, and operating processes and procedures. Development/implementation of safe work practices. Primary technical contact for applicable customers as directed and required. Develop, modify, improve, and troubleshoot the processes associated with the production and quality of ingot and billets. Support Metallurgy Department projects including planning, organizing data collection, execution and presentation. Initiate and control process, quality and/or cost reduction projects to achieve targets established by management without negatively impacting safety and quality. Assist Corporate Metallurgist in releasing equipment for production utilizing processes that are designed to meet or exceed customer technical (metallurgical and quality) requirements as specified on purchase orders, blueprints, specifications or other related documents. Review of new and revised technical (material, process, quality, etc.) specifications, as necessary.

Additional Duties:

Support the Supply Chain and Procurement teams. Assist in training of new supervisor's and operators in quality processes, work instructions and inspections. Manage QMS processes including quality hold areas, containments, and in-process inspection equipment and records.
