We are now looking for a Casualty Middle Market Trading Underwriter to join our team based in Gothenburg. Our Middle Market segment covers client revenue from USD 10m up to USD 500m.

Role purpose :

New business and broker relationship – estimated 80% of the role:

      The main purpose of this role, based in Gothenburg, is to hunt, underwrite, quote and bind new 
      business within predominantly the Middle Market segment (MM): 

Develop the MM business in Sweden Underwrite new business within Middle Market Develop and maintain strong broker relationships with the aim of building an adequate submission pipeline  Drive Cross Selling within the MM segment Renewal and policy underwriting servicing – estimated 20% of the role:

Policy renewal and program servicing for allocated renewals with support from Operations and/or the Madrid Hub.

   To ensure underwriting integrity through appropriate deployment of underwriting guidelines and
   controls, consistency of approach towards risk selection, pricing, and the correct use of capacity
   whilst recognizing market conditions.

Key responsibilities:

Underwrite new business according to defined underwriting guidelines, specified budget and local business plan
  Sales Discipline:  To represent and promote Chubb to brokers increasing Chubb market visibility with special focus on assigned segments and brokers Have a clear targeting and define a visit plan to brokers Pipeline Management – build and maintain an adequate submission pipeline Maximize cross selling in collaboration with other lines of business Work closely with the Middle Market Segment Leader to ensure we optimize all new business opportunities, and that we build our brand within the broker community  Extend Chubb’s presence in the assigned segment
  Portfolio Management: In coordination with the Middle Market Segment Leader define and build an underwriting strategy, forecast and portfolio management (12- and 24-month profitability review of won accounts) in order to achieve underwriting profitability Ensure quality control within defined area of responsibility by undertaking quantitative underwriting review to develop best performers segments
  Compliance and procedures:  Comply with all policies, controls, authorities and reporting requirements Work within the framework of Chubb service standards, meeting company standards in respect of policy documentation, timeframe for quoting new and renewal business and compliance issues Support and coordinate with other areas to ensure the right running of the business: Claims, Operations, Finance etc To work within the framework of Chubb ethical and service standards

Experience :

At least 3 years’ experience as an Underwriter or similar experience achieved in the insurance market  Experience of working in a multinational environment is an advantage Experience with portfolio reporting and performance reviews  Knowledge of the local and/or Nordic insurance market  Experience and demonstrated good communication and commercial skills on business-to-business level Experience of negotiating and attracting profitable business in accordance with company UW guidelines. Understanding on how individual underwriting decisions impact on business results Experience of participating in and executing on business projects and/or product development. Strong computer skills and advanced user of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Qualifications :

Demonstrated achievements, experience and skills in respect of liability insurance in combination with relevant academic qualifications such as a specialized Insurance Program or a bachelor’s degree in law,  Business Administration, Economics or similar Very good knowledge level of English, both spoken and written language
