EMEA Catastrophe Modelling Lead, Commercial Risk
A exciting new role that is key to Aon’s development of the Property Risk Analyser, a tool that provides exposure visualization, models potential losses and simulates insurance program options to provide clients with an evaluation of their Total Cost of Risk. Working with multiple senior partners across the business the candidate will be responsible for the future development of the tool, training of broker teams and ensuring we provide our clients with accurate data to enable them to make better decisions.

What the day will look like
While leading the Nat Cat risk modelling for Property Risk Analyzer the candidate will be responsible for:
+ Oversight and accountability of the technical excellence of the Property Risk Analyser tool, including technical design and overseeing rigorous testing to ensure we meet deliver data that can be relied upon by clients.
+ Strategic advisory to business and product leaders, providing innovative insights and deep subject-matter expertise on model evaluation and limitations and anticipating issues / challenges that may arise.
+ Working with the View of Risk Advisory team to bring model insights to commercial risk clients, providing advice on model choice
+ Providing experienced knowledge on developments / advancements in Nat Cat modelling, emerging trends, research and technologies in Nat Cat risk modelling and management, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of methodologies, tools and models.
+ Working closely with the Catastrophe Modeling team to provide support to brokers and other colleagues to resolve issues and interpret nat-cat modelling results. This involves:
+ Overseeing delivery of results within agreed timelines, and quality control of outputs.
+ Development of the long-term strategy of the team, finding opportunities for continuous improvement.
+ Oversight and advisory on systemic issues or opportunities for continuous improvement of model performance.
+ Drive collaboration and partnership with Reinsurance to realize alliances and deliver innovation / enhanced capabilities for commercial risk, through applying expertise, tools, insights and capabilities from Reinsurance and wider Aon. Ensure alignment with strategic objectives and overall value proposition of risk analyzers, and consider broader applicability across teams and functions.
+ Support go-to-market efforts such as RFPs or renewal strategies and presentations with the client, supporting client and broking teams to understand the clients’ Nat Cat risk needs and concerns, and articulating Aon’s value proposition and risk solutions
+ Partner closely with country, regional and/or global leaders (across Solution Lines, broking and commercial teams) to improve existing and develop new data and analytics capabilities to drive growth and efficiencies for Aon
+ Deliver technical training for non-technical colleagues, by simplifying complex concepts and applying commercial / broking perspective to model results interpretation, to equip Property Brokers and other colleagues with the ability to have meaningful conversations with commercial clients on view of risk.

We are looking for someone that has a deep understanding of catastrophe modelling but wants to take the next step in their career and demonstrate their background to help build an exciting new product.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
+ Advanced degree in relevant field (e.g. Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Engineering etc.)
+ Deep understanding of various catastrophe models (e.g. Impact Forecasting, RMS, Verisk etc.)
+ Strong computing and programming skills (Python/PySpark preferred);
+ Strategic problem solver with a keen eye for identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement
+ High-level of curiosity and eagerness to contribute to the team goals, while effectively managing time and priorities
