Catastrophe Risk Analyst
Job Title: UK Catastrophe Risk Analyst Aon is currently recruiting an experienced Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join our UK&I Property Team in London. Aon's Catastrophe Analytics team is the best regarded of its kind in Europe. The team sits within Aon Reinsurance Solutions and provides clients (UK insurance companies, syndicates and reinsurers) with advice on their exposures to natural disasters such as windstorms, floods and earthquakes. Comprised of enthusiastic and team-oriented individuals, the UK Property team is continuously looking for ways to evolve our clients’ understanding and view of catastrophe risk. Working very closely with our brokers, academic partners and our model evaluation specialists enables us to perform and draw from expert analysis and experience to make better decisions for our clients. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our London office. What the day will look like Working as the client analytics lead on reinsurance placements and projects. For client portfolios, the role will include interaction on pressing topics like View of Risk, Climate Change, Inflation and Event Response. This person will lead conversations with reinsurers, brokers and actuaries to understand exposures, review modelling results, explain modelling limitations and resolve issues promptly. For knowledge transfer, there is continuous collaboration with colleagues and client teams outside of the UK, and participation in corporate practice groups and committees related to cat modelling and cat risk management. This person will also contribute to the suite of proprietary analytical and efficiency tools developed by Aon and Impact Forecasting. The UK&I team is at the forefront of catastrophe modelling. Skills and experience that will lead to success Experience: + 5+ years of experience in catastrophe analytics in a broking house, at insurers, reinsurers, or similar financial services. + MSc or higher qualification ideally in, finance, statistics, science or equivalent + BSc in Geography/Environmental and/or Risk. + Catastrophe modelling experience with vendor models (RMS, Verisk, JBA) + Catastrophe Model Validation and Evaluation experience. Skills: + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills complemented by a solid grounding working with and interpreting statistics. + Good attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to prioritise work within a dynamic, deadline-driven environment + Highly motivated and strong work ethics + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and present complex ideas and concepts. + Ability to approach problem-solving in a practical and innovative manner. + Strong computer skills in MS Office suite (skills in programming and machine learning are highly beneficial) + Demonstrable coding skills in e.g. Python, SQL, R + Experience of Geospatial mapping software e.g. ArcGIS / Mapping Tools + Data visualisation e.g. Tableau or PowerBI How we support our colleagues In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
