Role: Category Leader - Electronic Assemblies

Position Overview: The Category Leader plays a vital role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives globally and optimizing procurement processes within the category. Reporting directly to the Director of Strategic Sourcing the successful candidate will change and optimization activity by leading and collaborating with colleagues across the organization to build new value. The leader will tap into their expertise in sourcing, supplier relationship management, and continuous improvement to deliver value to the company.

Responsibilities:

Category Strategy Development:

Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for assigned commodities aligned with company objectives. Conduct in-depth research and analysis to understand supply/demand drivers, market trends, new technologies, and leading suppliers. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) requirements.

Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management:

Develop and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers aligned with company's business goals and standards of conduct. Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities, including supplier identification, assessment, negotiation, contract management & transition/exit when needed.           

 Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with customers across departments (Operations, Quality, Engineering, Product & others) to understand customer requirements and acquire inputs on short & long-term sourcing actions. Engage internal teams to capitalize on supplier strengths & drive performance improvements.

Performance Measurement and Improvement:

Establish key performance indicators & daily management/visual management (DMVM) structure to measure efficiency of sourcing activities & drive improvement in quality, delivery, cost & working capital. Conduct regular business & performance reviews with selected suppliers. Find opportunities for process optimization and implement standard methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

Talent and Team Development:

Effectively lead team in establishing department objectives and prioritizing aligned with business objectives. Demonstrate through leadership behaviors the importance of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (IDE) in building a community where everyone belongs. Understand career aspirations & development needs of team members and jointly build actions to achieve objectives. Cultivate a positive collaborative working environment within team and measure results through employee experience survey.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or an MBA. Proven experience (min 7 years) in strategic sourcing, category management, and/or procurement. Demonstrated ability in people management and teamwork. Proven record in developing and implementing successful sourcing strategies and delivering measurable results. Strong negotiation skills and ability to lead sophisticated supplier relationships. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach. Outstanding communication and social skills, with the ability to influence partners at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
