Category Manager, IDS, Global Procurement Organization (GPO)
Description At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. In GPO, the Category Management team owns the strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. The category team identifies and leads strategic sourcing activities to lower overall total cost of ownership for Amazon operations, ensuring equipment and service availability to meet business owner requirements. The category team develops and negotiates framework agreements to reduce risk and support local teams in project specific needs relevant to category. The Industrial Design & Supplies (IDS) team under the Global Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) pillar is seeking an experienced Category Manager to globally implement our category's vision and innovations. The person in this role will coordinate with several teams across Amazon and will interact with our most important suppliers to satisfy organizational requirements. The person in this position will work and partner with multiple teams to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings and improve productivity across the category. Key job responsibilities - Enhance category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing projects, negotiate with suppliers, and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position - Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals - Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor, and optimize opportunities - Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities, and keep key stakeholders informed - Drive category suppliers in Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance, and add value to Amazon - Identify, achieve, and report on savings and value targets for category sourcing activities - Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category - Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions - Develop innovative supply chain solutions for our customers' pain points and drive the regional/global implementations - Achieve yearly cost saving or value targets appropriate to the category aligned with annual budget processes Travel domestically and internationally less than 10% the time A day in the life - You will deliver market leading low-cost, innovative and sustainable product/services to help our Operations teams succeed and delight Amazon.com customers with speed, selection and convenience - You will collaborate to seek inputs and manage outputs from our external suppliers as well as internal partners across Capital Planning, Worldwide Design Engineering (WWDE), Finance, Operations Engineering (Ops Eng.), Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME), Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), etc. - You may have to adapt and sometimes take different roles from strategy development to project management to rapidly meet customer needs - You will focus on deep diving categories to unlock value and help deploy emerging technologies at scale for Operations Amazon offers a full range of benefits for you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
