Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Category Manager to manage our groups of category or products for our company. You will be the one responsible for overall assortment of a product category to maximize sales, turns & GMROI. Relationships with vendors and product range management will also be part of your duties.
An excellent category manager must have extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and the retail environment. They must have a commercial mindset and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles. Exceptional communication skills are also key for category managers.
The goal is to increase sales and profitability of business to drive sustainable growth.
Reports directly to the Director of Category Management.
Compensation: The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000. Pay will be determined based on experience level.
Responsibilities
Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trendsDevise long-term development strategies for product categoriesDevelop exit strategies for unsuccessful productsFoster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of servicesDetermine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibilityLiaise with marketing teams to determine competitive promotional activities of a product categoryCollaborate with other departments such as sales, legal, Inventory and senior management to ensure all levels are aware of everything necessary within your job functions.Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventoryAssume responsibility of budget development and revenue for categoryRequirements and skills
Proven experience as category manager or similar roleSolid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principlesUnderstanding of data analysis and forecasting methodsProficient in MS OfficeAn analytical mind with a strategic abilityExcellent communication and people skillsQualificationsBSc/BA in business administration, marketing or related field
