Job Summary:
The Catering Manager will work with customers to align customer preferences with brand needs and actively up-sell each business opportunity to maximize revenues and drive customer loyalty. Responsible for preparing all event documentation and coordinates with hotel departments and customers to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event, and post-event phases of hotel events. This position handles social events (including but not limited to weddings), wedding room blocks, catering/meeting – only events, as well as all sizes of group business.
Job Responsibilities:
Respond in a timely manner to incoming group/catering opportunities that are within predefined parameters. Refer opportunities to appropriate sales associate if business is outside these parameters. Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and how to sell against them. Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence). Transfer accurate, complete, and timely information to property in accordance with brand standards. Understand and actively utilize company marketing initiative/incentives to close on business. Follow up on opportunities uncovered by business development. Effectively resolve guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process. Brings issues to the attention of Sales/Events Office leadership team as appropriate. Coordinate and communicate verbally and in writing with customer (internal and external) regarding event details. Manages group room blocks and meeting space for assigned groups. Greets customer during the event phase and hands-off to the Event Operations team for the execution of details. Conducts pre- and post-event meetings as required to review/communicate group needs and feedback. Integrates current trends in event management and event design. Ensures billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with clients prior to final bill processing Ensures the Event Management team leads the charge in regard to Event Satisfaction success (educating staff and clients about ESS surveys/scores and being the hotel leader in continually improving scores). Is actively involved in revenue enhancement programs to increase the sales of conference and catered events Maintains active involvement in wedding/social industry associations and attends local CVB events. Attends daily and weekly meetings as required Maintain, update and project group catering revenue and room block information for assigned groups
Job Requirements:
Required:
College degree required with emphasis in Business Administration, sales, hospitality or related field. Minimum one year in hospitality sales related function Above average proficiency with Microsoft Office Ability to read and comprehend complex correspondence. Ability to effectively present detailed information both verbally and in written form to employees, managers, executives and guests. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The expected pay range is $60,000 - $70,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
