Catering Services Assistant

Your Role

Gensler is seeking an Catering Services Assistant to join our growing team in the Washington, DC office. We are looking for someone who will take pride in our beautifully designed workspace and want to play a key role in its upkeep. What You Will Do

Hours – the regular schedule hours are 9:00am – 6:00pm with flexibility. Depending on the meetings and events there may be early mornings, evenings and occasional weekend hours requiredWork with office services team to support all aspects of both internal and external events; Client meetings, receptions and special eventsRespond to staff needs for pantry supplies, equipment and servicesAssist with other office duties as requestedStorage areas. Assuring our storage rooms are well stocked, organized and cleanConference room cleanliness and upkeep, including moving furniture or chairs is requiredOffice clean outs – assist with moving textile samples, hauling to designated trash receptables (dumpsters)Inventory & Purchasing – tracking, ordering and stocking dry goods, office supplies, printer resourcesOther duties and responsibilities as neededPotential for growth with more office management type responsibilities as you gain experience

Your Qualifications

3+ years of experience in meeting planning or catering services (ideally within an office environment), or an equivalent combination of education and experienceBachelor’s degree in related field is preferred, but not requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)Conference center and meeting planning experienceAttention to detail while maintaining a big picture orientationCritical thinking and problem-solving skillsHighly efficient and productive team member within the meetings department and GenslerWork independently as well as collaboratively within a team environmentSolid capabilities with computer programs (MS Office, Windows-based programs, e-mail, etc.Demonstrated ability to deliver great internal and external service: anticipating needs and taking the extra steps to ensure a positive experienceAble to work both independently and within a team; possesses effective prioritization and time management skillsAdaptable and flexible in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities

Additional responsibilities may include

Clean up meeting spaces at the conclusion of meetingOversees inventory of copy room office suppliesMaintain printer paper and ink inventory, purchasing and stockingResponds to errors or troubled copy machines. Also works to clear paper jamsAssists facilities with light maintenance duties

Physical Demand

Ability to lift up to 50 lbsMay regularly lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and move (push mail cart) over 50 lbsRequires regular twisting/turning/squatting/bending/reaching/lifting and prolonged periods of sitting, standing or walkingFrequent use of hand and foot controlsMay occasionally need to climb stairs

*This is not a remote position. The successful candidate will be expected to live in, or relocate to, the Washington, DC area upon acceptance.
