Cath Lab Interventional Radiology Technician II

What you'll do Under the direction of the Cardiovascular Imaging Medical Director and Cardiovascular Imaging Manager the Cath Lab Interventional Radiology Technician II performs prompt, courteous hemodynamic monitoring, accurate documentation and recording of all Cardiac, Vascular and Radiological procedural hemodynamics and equipment usage. Perform invasive technical diagnostic procedures and support for patients in the outpatient, inpatient and acute care setting. Maintains inventory and stock for the Cardiovascular Imaging suites. Expected to independently participate on the Cardiovascular Imaging On Call Team which will include weekend and holiday coverage as well as weekday coverage. Assist with evaluation, preparation and after care of patients undergoing cardiac catheterization or interventional procedures and EP testing. Prepare and skilled with all equipment used during procedures in CVI. Proficient with monitoring and documentation utilizing physiologic recorder system. Knowledge demonstrated through maintaining ACLS and emergency life support needs in the CVI. Monitor and records, processes and interprets intra-cardiac pressures and electrocardiograph signals during procedures; provides immediate notification with observations of changes to provider. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Attends variety of meetings, conferences and seminars as required or directed. Proficiency at maintain sterile work area and capable of setting sterile work tables up for various procedures. Explains procedures to patients and answers any questions or concerns regarding the test 100% of the time. Provides fluoroscopy procedures maintaining ALARA standards 100% of the time as noted by the Manager. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Ability to successfully precept new RT staff to the department in an organized and professional manner, developing the new staff to become successful in the department. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement on daily operations as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observations. (CVIC Rad Tech I/II / III) Complies with all universal precaution regulations and requirements as measured by supervisory review and/or direct supervisory observation. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Skilled in the procedure of removing indwelling arterial and venous catheters and perform manual pressure hold to achieve hemostasis without complication. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Set-up, prep IABP catheters, trouble shoot and follow physician instruction to accurately set timing of IABP 100% of the time. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Set-up, prep IVUS catheters, trouble shoot and follow physician instruction to accurately record and make measurements 100% of the time. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Set-up, prep of the Radii pressure wire, trouble shoot and follow physician directed instruction to record 100% of the time. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Set-up, prep of the Radii pressure wire, trouble shoot and follow physician directed instruction to record100% of the time. (CVIC Rad Tech II / III) Set up, operate and trouble shoot power injector as measured by supervisory review and/or direct observation 100% of the time. (CVI Rad Tech II/III) Provides evidence of two annual in-services to staff and clinical expertise. (CVI Rad Tech III) Attends and participate in Vascular and Cardiac conference rounds. (CVI Rad Tech III) Provides leadership and role modeling for CVI Rad Tech I & II (CVI Rad Tech III) Applies knowledge and experience through weekly education sessions with CVI staff to prepare others to take CV & VI registries. Operational & Procedural Responsibilities Collaborates with all departments to assure timely access to services. Complies, communicates and distributes testing results and patient charges according to protocol. Demonstrates patient advocacy by assuring patient's rights to privacy, confidentiality and safety. Utilizes infection control practices and precautions according to Bassett Medical Center Infection Control policies 100% of the time as measured by supervisory observation and feedback from other staff. Ensures that procedure rooms and the staff including physicians are operating within NYS regulation of radiation safety. Maintains competence through continuing education 100% of the time as noted by the Manager. Maintains appropriate continuing education credits to keep up licensure 100% of the time as recorded by the Manager. Treats cath lab equipment supplies with proper care and reports malfunctions as appropriate. Utilizes and orders supplies, prudently to maximize cost effectiveness of procedures. Maintains Cath Lab function with regards to appropriate staffing. Relationship Responsibilities Treats customers (Guests, patients, families, physicians and other employees) with respect, courtesy and compassion. Displays a positive image of Bassett Medical Center by upholding the mission statement and code of ethics. Works cooperatively within the Cardiovascular Imaging and within other departments in the hospital. Consistently ensures that patient information is kept private and confidential in accordance with hospital and HIPAA policy. Provides patient records and files to appropriate departments and physicians promptly. Patient Care and Safety Explains procedures to patients and answers any questions or concerns regarding the test 100% of the time. Provides fluoroscopy procedures maintaining ALARA standards 100% of the time as noted by the Manager. Performs radiographic fluoroscopy examinations as requested and in accordance to established protocols 95% of the time as observed by the Manager. Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager. What we need from you Education/Qualifications: 2 year / Associate Degree from an accredited Radiology Technologist program or satisfactory completion of formal Radiology Technologist training program in an AMA approved school, required Experience: Minimum 6 months or more experience as a Radiology Technologist within a cardiovascular procedure room or operating room.
