Job DescriptionWe are hiring an Industrial Mechanic reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor at our Curtis Bay plant in Baltimore, MD! This position will be responsible for supporting the plant’s mechanical maintenance program, playing a critical role in reactive and preventative maintenance.
Schedule: A Multi may be required to work a rotating shift schedule, work overtime, and work holidays as business dictates. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required.
Responsibilities Comply with all Company policies, procedures and quality standards as well as participate in quality and process improvement initiatives as required. Maintains timely compliance on all safety, health, environmental, and training initiatives. Performs precision repairs to plant mechanical equipment and devices. Troubleshoots plant equipment, identifies equipment problems, and performs effective repairs. Performs preventive maintenance. Disassembles and reassembles equipment to gain access to and remove and replace defective parts. Evaluates used parts to identify changes to improve equipment performance. Fabricates new parts. Sets up and operates, drill press, grinder, shop tools, hand tools, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Uses acetylene, plasma cutter, or other burning equipment Performs welding using stick, mig, tig, or other welding procedures Performs crane signaling and rigging of tools or equipment Fabricates and installs piping systems. Operates forklift, elevated work platforms, and other equipment necessary for the job. Reads and interprets drawings & sketches. Use computer and telecommunications devices including keyboards and other forms of data entry and retrieval. Other tasks as assigned Physical Requirements and Environment Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Required Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GE) Candidates must pass a written mechanical aptitude and a hands-on mechanical aptitude test prior to being awarded the position. Complete Apprenticeship courses and obtain a passing grade. Complete the required in-shop tasks assigned per the training checklists.
