CCE Hamilton County Program Educator - Piseco, NY
The Program Educator is primarily responsible for the delivery of education programs based upon the current Association focus in Hamilton County. Under the direction of the Senior Issue Leader, the educator will deliver established educational programs throughout Hamilton County. This position will work closely with the Sr. Issue Leader to assist in evaluation, management and marketing. The individual will provide data entry and maintenance of participant data requiring confidentiality. The Educator will provide information to other Extension programs, community agencies, residents, and services, as needed. Required Qualifications: + Associate’s Degree or equivalent education. GED/High School Diploma with one year of transferrable program/functional experience may substitute. + Experience relevant to the role of the position. + Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons and work with diverse audiences. + Basic computer and word processing skills. + Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read and write proficiently) in English. + Ability to frequently lift, move or transport supplies and equipment, and climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation. + Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. + Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications: + Ability to plan and organize personal work responsibilities according to priorities developed with immediate supervisor. + Ability to acquire and assimilate data and research to negotiate appropriate responses to inquiries. + Ability to record community feedback to present to administration. + Experience or ability to effectively develop and maintain relationships within the community through utilizing networking skills. + Familiarity with the community in which the work will take place. Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions Program Delivery – 75% + Utilize existing program materials and educational framework to provide education in Association’s current areas of focus to individuals within the service area. + Work to foster acceptance of CCE Hamilton programs, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences. + Deliver high quality programming to individuals and groups utilizing approved curricula and existing program materials and resources. + Provide research based material and resources to providers, staff and other groups, as they are identified. + Utilizing established materials, serve as subject matter resource to staff, clientele and other groups, as they are identified; provide standard responses. + Represent CCE before the public, participants, community leaders, government officials, Cornell or other land grant universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery. + Under the direction and oversight of the Supervisor, occasionally apply established subject matter knowledge to adapt lesson plans and materials as needed to meet established program objectives. + Interact with program participants as part of program delivery. + Serve as a team member and cooperate with entire Association to achieve program delivery goals. Program Evaluation – 10% + Interact with program participants, advisory committees, Cornell program specialists and faculty, county and community leaders to assist in obtaining evaluation data for programs. + Assist in communication of evaluation results and findings. + Make recommendations for improvement/changes to strengthen and improve programmatic offerings. + Implement program evaluation as designed. ​ Administrative Management – 5% + Assist in solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise in the operation of the unit, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures. + Assist with volunteer involvement. + Provide input to supervisor for program budget preparation. Administration Coordination/Operation – 5% + Compile, edit and format existing program resources and program materials. + Maintain record of class participants and accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required for the program. + Submit collected data for entry into Cornell Business Systems. + Assist Supervisor in identifying administrative aspects of programs including, but not limited to: preparing correspondence, maintaining files, etc. ensuring confidentiality of all information. + Provide input for newsletters, press releases and other educational and public relations activities. + Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promotes effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts. + Complete reports as requested. + Complete low-complexity administrative tasks to support the implementation of the program budget. + Submit accurate program expense reports in a timely manner. + Maintain mass media efforts related to program/function. + Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts. Professional Improvement – 5% + In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities. + Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned. Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions + Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment. + Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard. + Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
