VCA West Coast Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital We are a well-established, 24-Hour Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Orange County California, just a short drive to the ocean! We have a variety of specialties under one roof including Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Neurology. We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our talented team who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and top quality medicine.

As a Critical care veterinary assistant, you will be responsible for continuous patient care and for providing medical care to hospitalized patients.
Obtain vital parameters on critically ill or injured patients, perform patient rounds
Assist with venipuncture, catheterization, IV placement, blood pressure, nasal oxygen administration, naso-gastric/naso-esophogeal feeding tubes, ultrasound guided cystocentesis, and bladder expression.
Set up and maintain multiparameter monitors, Doppler, ECG, pulse oximetry, and other equipment
Calculate and administer medications, including fluid bolus & CRIs, and transfusions
Provide basic and advanced life support, including CPR
Educate clients about pet health needs and communicate with them and the doctor
Take X-rays, perform in house lab work and fill prescriptions
Schedule: Full-Time opportunity, 4 x 10-hour shifts, with one weekend off. We are looking to expand our swing and overnight teams.
Compensation: $21.00 - $25.00 Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.
Swing Differential: $2.00/hour
Overnight Differential: $3.00/hour
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years experience, working as a veterinary assistant, with experience in emergency and critical care preferred.
Ability to navigate high paced workflow with a sense of urgency
Able to be part of a collaborative team-oriented environment
Comfortable to ask for help & clarification when needed
Posses a high attention to detail and strong communication skills
