Primary Responsibilities

This opportunity will need much flexibility due to the fact that the Union Drivers are mainly covering senior drivers.  Drivers will come in on the bottom tier, therefore, they can do a variety of Direct Store Deliveries, Shuttles and Pick-ups. The drivers will work both days and nights with potential layovers, there are no set schedules. A KeHE Driver is responsible for operating a Tractor-Trailer vehicle, observing all road, highway and DOT guidelines, in a safe and efficient manner, and transferring merchandise from the distribution center to retail customer over an assigned geographical area.

Essential Functions

At KeHe we care about the safety and success of our drivers and provide you with the tools you need to get the job done in trucks that are on average only 2 years old. This union position provides paid Health insurance and a pension with the opportunity to work your way up in seniority over time to get dedicated routes/bids.

Operate Tractor-Trailer and/or straight truck in a safe and efficient manner.Deliver merchandise to assigned customers.Pick up back-hauls and return merchandise.Complete all required paperwork and logs at the end of each trip.Maintain contact with retailers and accounts receivable specialists.Other duties and special projects as requested.Must maintain good attendance.Maintain safe work practices.Maintain safeguards of confidential company information. Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude Prior delivery route experience is preferredMinimum 12 months of current, consecutive CDL Class A commercial vehicle driving experienceCommercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A requiredMust be able to carry, lift and/or move up to 80 pounds

Qualifications / Additional Skills / Aptitude:

Have the ability to communicate well with internal and external customers and management.Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Have the ability to follow safe working practices, as instructed, and the ability to efficiently work independent of direct supervision.

The employee is frequently required to stand, climb, bend, and walk. May need to drive between stores as per assignment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to both a typical office/store environment and all outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environments is low to high.
