CDL Driver - Winter 2024/25

Location: Bend, Oregon

Mt. Bachelor strives to deliver Central Oregon’s most memorable outdoor adventures to locals and out-of-town visitors on a year-round basis. Mt. Bachelor’s 365 days of fun includes 4,300 acres of lift-accessible terrain for skiing and snowboarding, Woodward Mountain Parks, a world-class Nordic Center, summer and fall downhill biking in the Mt. Bachelor Bike Park, Sun Country Tours (white water rafting), hiking, Sunset Dinners, Zip-Touring and chairlift-accessible sightseeing.
 

Position Summary

Driving bus to and from; or around Mt. Bachelor. Part time and some split shifts. This is a wonderful position for those of you looking for a work/play balance and a passion for winter recreation.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Be able to complete DOT inspection using DVIR. Check and fill fluid levels on bus as needed. Fill out the Mt. Bachelor daily driver report recording added fluids and recording passengers by boarding pass type for each trip.

Maintain a clean bus interior between scheduled runs. Ensure safety items are maintained and used properly. Identify minor problems with the bus and have vehicle maintenance shop address problem. Complete a secondary inspection before driving your bus after periods of downtime.

Safe operation requires that you may need to put tire chains on the bus; this could take place midway up the mountain alongside the road, Mt. Bachelor parking lot or at Mt. Bachelor Vehicle Maintenance shop.

Be able to provide guest service to guest or employees in a manner that leaves them with the impression you have done everything possible to help them even if they did not receive what they wanted.

At the end of each working day properly complete all paperwork and turn it into its appropriate location. Add fuel to the bus. Wash the outside, de-ice the undercarriage, inspect the interior for lost and found items sweep and mop the floors and empty trash.

Attend all Mt. Bachelor meetings when not in conflict with days off or driving duties.

Attend all transportation department meetings.

​ Secondary Function

1) Housekeeping responsibilities:

At the Bend park-and-ride pick up loose trash in parking lot and surrounding area also empty trash cans.

2) Teamwork:

Provide crowd control while a primary driver loads the bus.

Help other drivers shovel snow and spread cinders to get buses unstuck, or act as a spotter to assist in the backing up of a bus or if equipment is required to help move a bus.

Job Scope

To provide a safe trip up, down and around the base area to our guests and employees. Responsible for turning in documentation at end of shift. Report all motor vehicle accidents immediately and complete D. M. V. accident form. Responsible for keeping certification current IE (commercial drivers license, passenger endorsement, medical card, ECT.)

Interpersonal Contacts

You will need to be able to interact with the other bus drivers, employees, guests, snow removal, and vehicle maintenance staff. This communication may take place face-to-face, on two-way radios, or by phone.

Specific Job Skills

License/Certifications: A minimum of class B CDL W/ air brake restriction lifted, class B Bus endorsement, and valid medical card. Pass an ODOT drug screen and ODOT physical.

Technical: The ability to check and add necessary fluids in correct amount to motor. And a minor understanding of the correct operating sound of the equipment to ensure safe operation.

Physical Capabilities: The ability to lift twist and pull as applying to working and compartment hatches on an interstate bus. The physical strength and range of motion required to install tire chains.

Additional: Strong focus on safety.

Education/Related Experience

Minimum education required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum time in related position: 3 years driving CDL rigs and snow driving.

Current Hiring Rate: $24.73/hour
