CDL Program Coordinator
Description JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the DOT Compliance Manager, this position plays a critical role within Lewis Tree Service by creating a learning environment that supports and encourages students to obtain their Commercial Vehicle Driver’s Permit/License. This role will ensure the effective oversight of our Entry-Level CDL Driver Training (ELDT) program and provide high-quality training to produce skilled drivers capable of safely operating commercial vehicles and meeting Lewis's workforce needs. The position may also assist with content development, process/systems improvement, and the scheduling and coordination of fleet training and related events. The successful candidate will utilize excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with all levels of internal management and staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: · Ensure compliance with the Lewis ELDT program curriculum. · Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. · Communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. · Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. · Observe, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback on students' performance and development. · Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. · Update all necessary records as required by laws, policies, and regulations. · Stay informed about industry developments and relevant technology to enhance instruction and program effectiveness. Manage location schedules, work assignments, and overall day-to-day functions of the CDL Program. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs all other duties as assigned or required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: · High school diploma or equivalent. · Valid Class A CDL with a minimum of five years of experience driving in a CDL A capacity. · Proficiency in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) including Part 380. · Prior classroom teaching experience. · Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. · Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug/alcohol test, and motor vehicles records check. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Experience with construction or utility service vehicles. · Bilingual in Spanish (written and spoken). · Two years of experience as a behind-the-wheel commercial motor vehicle instructor. TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT & TOOLS: • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: · Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively. · Strong attention to detail and accuracy. · Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments for training purposes. · Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication. · Ability to coach, teach, and mentor students. · Willingness and ability to travel greater than 50% of the time, including overnight, via ground and/or air transportation. Salary range for the role is $70,000 - $80,000
