CDL Training Instructor

As a CDL Training Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training programs to commercial driver's license (CDL) students. You will ensure that trainees are well-prepared to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and facilitating training sessions that focus on the principles, techniques, safety, and procedures related to the telecommunications industry. Responsibilities As a CDL Training Manager, Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Travel to various job sites/offices to facilitate classes and visit students. Travel up to 50% of the time. Administer written, oral, and performance tests to measure progress and verify the competency of employees. Support Operations and Safety teams in their efforts around safety, quality, and productivity. Curriculum Development: Develop and maintain a comprehensive CDL training curriculum, aligned with FMCSA regulations and industry best practices. Tailor courses by developing modifications to meet participants’ needs and training goals. Stay informed on the latest FMCSA regulations and industry best practices. Classroom Instruction: Conduct classroom sessions covering topics such as: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) manual. Vehicle inspections. Defensive driving techniques. Emergency procedures. Behind-the-Wheel Training: Provide hands-on training in various driving scenarios, including: Pre-trip inspections. Backing maneuvers. Shifting gears. Driving on highways and city streets. Coupling and uncoupling trailers. Skill Evaluation: Assess student performance through written exams and practical driving tests. Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students throughout their training process. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing CDL training. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain training vehicles in safe operating condition. Qualifications: Valid CDL Class A License with appropriate endorsements. Proven experience as a commercial driver. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to adapt to different learning styles. Patience and understanding. Current DOT Medical Certification. First Aid and CPR certification. Preferred Qualifications: CDL Instructor experience. Experience in developing and delivering training programs. Knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance.
