PURPOSE

Under supervision of Shift Supervisor, monitors quality, performs housekeeping duties, routinely inspecting and lubricating machinery, collects measurements and samples.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform pre-shift area and equipment inspections daily for safety, maintenance and housekeeping, correcting problems as needed using best judgment or Process SupervisorMake daily rounds to inspect, lubricate plant machinery, and document machinery statusMonitor FM6 cement quality and assume responsibility for quality, work with operator to maintain this quality.Assist Finish Mill Control Room Operator as needed to maintain proper function of equipmentOperate bobcat & forklift as needed for cleanupPerform and assist with minor mill repairsCollect cement quality samples as neededMaintain a safe, clean work environment in keeping with MSHA and company rules and standardsPerform housekeeping dutiesOther duties as directed by supervisor

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have a willingness and ability to learn new tasks and operate with considerable focus on safetyMust have ability to understand all major components of the grinding circuit on a ball mill, such as:Mill ball charge Cement Blaine and 325 targetsMill liners and screens Limestone addition and LimitsMill Slide Shoe bearings Free limes and Alkali limitsAir Separator operation Effect of grinding aids to mill operation. Cement FK Compressor Effect of excessive mill temps on cement.Cement FK pumps Effect of gypsum in processUnderstand how process changes effect cement quality and throughputKnowledge of material handling systemsUnderstand the purpose and functionality of all equipment used in the finish grinding of cementKnowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibilityMust be able to operate forklift, skid steer loader, and man lift when necessaryMinimum of (2) years’ experience in cement or related industry preferredAbility to read, write, and verbally communicate in the English languagePass required physical examination and drug screens

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time (up to 12 hrs.)Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground)Climb stairs and ladders as high as 200 feet in elevationPhysical ability to climb on equipmentMust be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, stoop, and crawl under and into enclosed spacesAbility to see and hear safety indicators and warningsDrive automobile to various plant sites and work locations. Must be able to travel (air/auto) overnight as neededMust work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions and near hot kiln processWill have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protectionExposure to cement, clay, limestone and various lab chemicals.  See MSDS for more details

 WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, and rain). Noise levels may reach maximum of 106 dba for a period of 5-10 minutes an hour. Must be able to work in conditions including the following: odors, dust, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, hazardous chemicals, and non-hazardous materials. For this job, the nature of these hazards cannot be controlled due to the job environment and job procedures. In this case, the type of safety equipment required is: company issued headgear, gloves, earplugs, steel-toed shoes or boots, safety glasses, respirators, lock-out. Must be able to work rotating shifts
