As a Cement Process Engineer, you will lead research initiatives aimed at developing, testing and implementing innovative technologies for use in the cement manufacturing process with a focus on implementing powder flow, communition and plant control knowledge. You will work cross-functionally with Business unit, internal R&D and data teams and external cement plant process and cement plant QC teams to ensure project success. Working with our cement field Technical Service team, you will design and drive field tests and implement new IoT systems at cement plants. You will also work collaboratively with scientific and industrial experts to enhance the knowledge of the organization and to implement new technologies to the industry. Ability to travel within US/Canada and ability to attain Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA, Part 46) certification will be required.
This role can be remote but would require up to 50% travel or it can be based in Wilmington, MA with up to 30% travel.

Implement and manage IoT systems in the field during proof-of-concept and product development stage to improve cement product quality. Utilize advanced process control technologies (e.g., automation, sensors) to enhance manufacturing processes. Transcribe the needs of internal and external customers to define targets and specifications of projects and products.25%
Lead modeling effort and create model for use to achieve improved understanding to guide development of new solutions for low-carbon cement production, performance and transport. Oversee development of in-house communication and powder flow test methods to evaluate the flow and transport properties of low-carbon cements.20%
Transfer cement plant control knowledge to develop IoT products to improve cement product quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business, testing, data, field technical service, R&D, plant production, and plant quality control, etc.) to ensure project objectives are met.15%
Participate in international R&D meetings in collaboration with the Innovation Transfer team. Participate actively in trade meetings. Prepare detailed reports, technical papers, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Stay current with advancements in cement chemistry, manufacturing technologies, and process control techniques and serve as internal consultant. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
