JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Center for Virtual/Material Studies in the Department of Art History and the Fashion Archive in the School of Theatre welcome applications from undergraduate students in the Penn State College of Arts and Architecture, with preference given to Art History or Theatre majors, for a paid internship to take place during the fall of 2023 (August 21 – December 8). The intern should commit to 10 hours of work per week, for a total of 15 weeks, at an hourly rate of $15.00. The majority of the work will take place Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm. The successful candidate will catalog and photograph historic garments and accessories for the digital inventory of the School of Theatre Fashion Archive, clean and care for vintage garments, and other duties within the archive as assigned. Position Requirements: + Be a second-year or above College of Arts and Architecture student (preference given to Art History or Theatre majors) with a strong academic record*Have a desire to gain hands-on skills in looking at, researching, and cataloging historic fiber- and textile-based objects + Be responsible, organized, and hard-working + Work well independently, as well as in a group + Be able to lift forty pounds + Experience with digital photography is preferred but not necessary + Experience with textiles and garment construction is preferred but not necessary + This student will work closely with the staff of the Center for Virtual/ Material Studies (CVMS) and the Fashion Archive Director.
