Center of the Plate Buyer

The Center of the Plate Buyer is a critical member of the organization focused on eliminating waste up and downstream.  Success in this role is found through the ability to multitask, focus on detail, and precisely execute on prioritizing projects.  Tasked with order fills, purchasing order costs, negotiating with suppliers, researching potential product selections, and taking inventory of current products, the Center of the Plate Buyer is a key contributor to solving protein needs for Shamrock's customers across the enterprise.

Essential Duties:

Maintains multi-line product replenishment from vendors and suppliers at competitive market pricing with Poultry, Beef, Pork and other animal proteins). Manage cost of goods through vendor management, opportunity buys, commodity purchases, and cost of freight Review daily inventory and costing reports and react proactively to solve potential issues. Expedite delivery of purchase orders based on unanticipated customer demand by working with vendors and logistics partners. Maintain system product forecasting, vendor costing and complete purchase order costing confirmations within weekly and monthly guidelines. Make recommendations to Branch and Corporate Category Managers on discontinuation of slow-moving and duplicate inventory items. Manage inventory of assigned vendors to ensure adequate supply while meeting or exceeding key performance indicators as follows: Inventory Loss Minimization Days Inventory on Hand (DIOH) Customer Order Fill Rates Excess and Obsolete Inventory Reserve Slow and Dead Inventory Special Order Response Time Become a subject matter expert on the Shamrock Foods Company purchasing system and replenishment processes Other duties may be assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from college or university; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to effectively exercise independent judgment and decision making in executing replenishment and inventory management activities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess strong organizational skills. Must have good interpersonal skills, possessing a high degree of professionalism, tact, and persistence. Must possess superior analytical skills and communication skills, and the ability to solve complex problems in an expeditious fashion. Ability to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required. Must have experience using purchasing forecasting systems.
