Central Processing Coordinator - Central Processing/MRMC (Full-time)

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

1.    Job responsibilities include those listed in the competency document.
2.    The duties of the Central Processing Coordinator require knowledge of cleaning, preparation, sterilization, storage and use of items from surgical services and other departments in the hospital.
3.    Assists with daily operations of all Central Processing functions and facilitates coordination and support to surgeons, staff, and administrators to address concerns, opportunities, and needs. 
4.    Ensures that issues impacting patient care outcomes are addressed and the best outcomes are achieved.
5.    Assists with the education/training of department employees in conjunction with the Director and Supervisors of Central Processing. 
6.    Participates in change management, operational excellence, process improvement, and quality checks. 
7.    Uses best practices related to decontamination, sterilization, preparing and packaging of instruments, and ensures all are followed.
8.    Notifies leadership if equipment PMs are needed, equipment is broken, or there are any issues with equipment; reports any instruments that need to be ordered, repaired, or sharpened for her area.
9.    Compliant with all practice requirements established in the standards set by DNV, AORN, AAMI on all sterilizers, including biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring. 
10.    Active collaboration with the Central Processing, Surgical Services Leadership Team, and vendors.
11.    Attends training and in-services, precepts students, and works in conjunction with OR staff.
12.    Ensures all daily tests are performed, verifies loads are sterile, and verifies record compliance with all sterilization methods.
13.    Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
14.    Serves as a positive role model, team player, supporter, collaborator, and steward for all staff.
15.    Actively participates in service excellence (patient experience), surgeon satisfaction, and staff engagement.

Qualifications/Training:  
•    Must have Central Processing Technician certification.  
•    Minimum of five years experience in Central Processing. 

License/Certifications/Registrations/Education:  
•    Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school  
•    Certification must be maintained according to the certifying association’s requirements
