Cambridge Health Alliance's experienced Surgery team has performed thousands of procedures at some of Boston's finest teaching hospitals. Today, we have recruited highly-regarded surgeons and are able to provide state-of-the-art care in our operating rooms. The department has grown significantly adding skilled surgeons who bring specialized care to our communities. Our most recent initiatives includes a minimally invasive surgery program, hepatobiliary and pancreatic program, and multidisciplinary breast center. All of our Surgeons handle routine cases as well as more complex procedures. Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques to reduce the discomfort and recovery time of surgery. Many procedures can now be done on an outpatient basis with patients going home the same day. These procedures including Endoscopy are performed at Cambridge and Everett hospital and outpatient Endoscopy is performed at our Somerville Campus. **Job Duties/Responsibilities:** The **Central Processing Technician** will be responsible for the receiving, decontamination, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and supplies for the Operating Room and Clinical Nursing areas. Conduct daily biological monitoring and documentation of the OR Flash Sterilizers, and air removal testing. Collect and clean soiled instruments and equipment from the OR, Nursing Units, and Clinics. Responsible for conducting daily floor rounds: equipment cleaning, inspection, storage-electrical charging, distribution, document pick up and delivery log, code cart restock, and pump and pole collection and cleaning. Inspects, assembles, and wraps clean instruments according to policy and industry standards. sorts and reports missing instruments or parts and documentation. Operates and maintains logs for high vacuum steam autoclaves, plasma sterilizer Sterrad NX & 100 and washer decontaminators. Maintain sterilization load records in the event of a 'Recall''. Assembles surgical case carts using surgeon preference card pick lists and delivers case carts to designated location in OR. Helps maintain par levels of supplies for the OR, Nursing Units and Clinics as required/needed. Checks supplies and equipment on adult and pediatric code carts against master list and replaces those items which may be missing. Identifies and segregates loaner trays for processing.
