GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job receives, cleans, distributes and stores medical instruments and equipment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cleans, disinfects, decontaminates, and sterilizes medical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods, substances and equipment. (30%)Receives, stocks, packages, and distributes medical instruments and equipment. (30%)Performs and documents required quality assurance testing and inspection on stock. Inventories and reorders supplies. (30%)Properly disposes of biohazardous substances, chemicals, medical waste, and unusable equipment and supplies. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.For Central Service Technician (CST) hired after 12/29/2020 -- Employees who practice central sterile by the health care facility on or before December 29, 2020 are exempt from certification requirements:Pass a nationally accredited central service exam within 18 months from hire dateMaintain one of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)

Preferred

Sterile processing or hospital setting experience.Enrollment in a surgical tech / sterile processing program.
