Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central Sterile Technician.

In this role, the successful candidate The Central Service Technician is responsible for the processing of operating room instruments as well as the sterilization and decontamination of instruments and patient care equipment

Job Responsibilities:

Understand the concept of even related shelf life inspects and stores items without compromising the integrity of the sterile itemsShows knowledge and skill in the disassembling and assembling components of specialty instruments for cleaning and sterilizationCleans and decontaminates all reusable items from patient areas following appropriate guidelinesHandles High level disinfectants in a safe mannerPrepares instruments for Sterrad and Steam SterilizationMonitors the efficacy of the sterilizer daily cyclesOperates Steam and Sterrad sterilizer machines Cleans sterilizers when neededPerforms sterilizer monitoring with chemical and biological indicatorsOperates all equipment including steam gun sonic machine Washer/Decontaminator and Nitrous Oxide cylinder for power equipment testingPrepares all type of scopes for sterilizationManually washes and disinfects heat and moisture sensitive and specialty itemsInspects and report defective/damaged instruments to supervisorTest instruments for proper functionSees that tray/sets left back from previous shift are completed and returned to user in a timely matterShows knowledge of instrumentation Is able to identify trays/sets using the computer pick sheetHas knowledge of the Impress Instrument Tracking SystemPrepares and bags instrument sets for shipment

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent CPD and/or Operating Room background preferred Knowledge of supplies OR instruments and equipment Operating Steam Sterilizers Washers/Decontaminates and Sterrad machines Provisional certification is acceptable 400 hours of on hands training will need to be achieved prior to expiration of the provisional certification.

Preferred Licenses: Cert-Central Service Tech

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,259.40 - $69,027.20 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
